Croatia is a (currently) economically suffering country in Europe, as of 2015. Although it is part of the EU as of July 1, 2013, it is still recovering from the horrors of its war against Serbia. In June 28, 1914 a Serbian nationalist, Gavrilo Princip assassinated the heir to the throne of Austro-Hungarian Empire Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife Sophie as they visited the city of Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. This assassination was the point in history that whirled into reality World War One. After Serbia attacked Croatia, chaos broke out. Four empires were destroyed in this heart breaking war, the Austrian-Hungarian empire (to which Croatia belonged to), the German empire, the Ottoman empire, and the Russian empire.
